Before graduating from vet school in 2010 I spent many years on the other side of the exam table as a client. I always seemed to have the kinds of dogs with many medical issues: Dachshunds, Rottweilers, German Shepherds and Flat-Coated Retrievers, so I had plenty of opportunities to be the client. To be honest, I did a lot of ‘clinic-hopping’ looking for the best fit for myself and my animals. Unfortunately I never did find a vet with whom I felt completely comfortable entrusting my pet’s care and with whom I could work with as a team. I also spent years volunteering and fostering for shelters and rescue groups, and saw first-hand how lack of affordable veterinary care affects the lives of our pets. For those reasons I had a very clear idea of the kind of veterinarian I wanted to be: caring, nonjudgmental, gentle, forever curious, and down-to-earth.
After graduation I spent a year in a large, very busy hospital in Texas, learning the basics of being a veterinarian. Although I met wonderful people while there, I yearned to return home to Northern Colorado and open the caring, gentle affordable veterinary practice I had dreamed about. Having been in a very busy, bustling clinic I wanted to offer clients and their pets a calmer, gentler experience.
After returning home to Northern Colorado, I began AniMom Vet, a housecall practice. In time I built a small clinic inside my home in Windsor. Many pets enjoyed visiting my home clinic as if they were visiting a friend, and this gave me the idea that the same concept could be used in a clinic setting. Offering a calm, quiet atmosphere with gentle handling and a positive experience for pets proved to be a better way to manage the stress of a veterinary visit and pet's general health.
In August of 2014 I purchased the Roving Vet Clinic from Dr. Elayne Williams, who had been practicing in Fort Collins for almost 40 years. I want to continue the tradition Dr. Williams started by offering personalized but affordable service, and options in the care of your furry (or not-so-furry) family members. I believe it is my duty to provide support, education, and options so that you may make the best decisions for you and your pet in a no-pressure, calm environment.
I am so happy to be able to offer this level of veterinary medicine at prices just about all pet owners can afford. Not only that, but the ability to be accessible to my clients, who often call me to ask questions rather than turn to the internet for possibly erroneous information. I enjoy partnering with my clients regarding their pet’s veterinary care, and I know that YOU know your pets best. I look forward to meeting you and your pets!
